President Donald Trump on Saturday called on Netflix to immediately remove former National Security Adviser Susan Rice from its board of directors, blasting her after she warned that corporations aligning with the president would face consequences down the road.
In a forceful post on Truth Social, Trump did not mince words.
“Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences. She’s got no talent or skills – Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what??? Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT.”
Rice has served on Netflix’s board since 2023, following a previous stint from 2018 to 2020. Trump’s post included a link to a clip shared on X by Laura Loomer that featured Rice criticizing corporations she believes are bending to Trump.
In the video, Rice — who served as National Security Adviser and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during former President Barack Obama’s administration — took aim at corporate leaders, law firms, universities and media organizations that she suggested were acting out of narrow self-interest.
“When it comes to the elites — the corporate interests, the law firms, the universities, the media… it’s not going to end well for them, for those that decided that they would act in their perceived, very-narrow self-interest — which I would underscore is very short-term self interest — and take a knee to Trump,” Rice said.
She argued that such institutions are beginning to recognize that Trump’s policies are not popular, whether on the economy, affordability or immigration. Rice predicted that a political shift could leave those organizations exposed.
“They’re going to be caught with more than their pants down, they’re going to be held accountable by those who come in opposition to Trump and win at the ballot box,” she said.
Rice went even further, warning corporations that Democrats returning to power would not simply move on.
“If these corporations think Democrats, when they come back in power, are gonna play by the old rules and say, ‘Oh never mind, we’ll forgive you for all the people you fired, all the policies and principles you violated, all the lies you’ve skirted’ — I think they’ve got another thing coming,” she added.
Trump’s call for her removal comes at a pivotal time for Netflix. The company is seeking to close a reported $72 billion deal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Bloomberg reported last week that the Justice Department is probing whether the proposed merger would harm moviegoers. Meanwhile, Paramount Skydance is reportedly attempting to edge Netflix out in order to pursue its own acquisition of WBD.
Rice has previously been outspoken in her criticism of Trump’s agenda, including his push to dismantle federal diversity, equity and inclusion policies. In remarks last year about Pete Hegseth, she said, “Well, if you’re a white male Christian cisgender macho MAGA man, you can be as dumb as a rock and be deemed qualified to serve as Secretary of Defense. That’s apparently what we’ve learned from this episode.”
Trump’s latest salvo underscores the ongoing clash between the president and prominent figures from the Obama era, now playing out in the corporate boardroom as well as the political arena.
