Katie Hobbs’ husband is a child psychiatrist who was mentioned in an explosive lawsuit filed against the state by the parents of a 10-year-old transgender child in 2020.

Hobbs is currently the Democratic candidate for Governor in Arizona.

Patrick Goodman works as a psychiatrist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

According to the hospital’s website, Goodman’s employer takes a gender affirming approach to the treatment of children diagnosed with gender dysphoria or who identify as a sex other than their biological one.

In 2020, the hospital was involved in an indirect lawsuit filed against the state on behalf of three transgender youngsters.

The children’s guardians sued the state, requesting that the state amend each child’s birth certificate to reflect the gender they currently identify as rather than their biological sex.

People in Arizona can only update their birth certificates after undergoing a sex change procedure.

Goodman is named in court filings as a therapist to one of the children named in the complaint, Jane Doe, a 10-year-old trans girl.

Goodman was mentioned as a prospective witness in the case in one document dated November 9, 2020, and was scheduled to testify on the child’s treatment.

Goodman was scheduled to testify in connection with Jane Doe’s request for a preliminary injunction to compel the state to modify the child’s birth certificate before the start of the school year.

“Patrick Goodman is a therapist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Jane Doe’s mental health provider. He is expected to testify regarding his mental health treatment of Jane Doe’s gender dysphoria and opinion regarding Jane’s health and well-being absent injunctive relief.” A filing from the court battle says.

The matter is still being litigated.

Hobbs is set to face GOP nominee Kari Lake on Tuesday in an election to determine the next governor of Arizona.

According to the latest polls Lake, who has repeatedly criticized Hobbs for what she believes are the candidates far-left positions, was significantly ahead of her Democrat rival.
