Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., forcefully pushed back against questions from a Fox News Digital reporter regarding an allegation linking her romantically to Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., sharply criticizing what she described as sensationalized and inappropriate coverage.
The tense exchange unfolded in a video published Sunday by Fox News Digital. The confrontation centered on claims made by Cynthia West, a former Massie staffer and former girlfriend of the Kentucky congressman.
West recently told MAGA influencer Laura Loomer that Massie had allegedly bragged about a sexual encounter with Boebert. According to West’s account, the alleged conversation took place just weeks after the death of Massie’s wife in 2024.
When a Fox News Digital reporter attempted to raise the allegation during an interview with Boebert, the Colorado lawmaker immediately cut off the question before it could be fully asked.
“One of his exes is making headlines, saying that you guys—” the reporter began.
Before the question could be completed, Boebert responded with a blunt rebuke.
“Fck you, first of all!” she said. “If you’re gonna bring me into this, like, the sexist stuff is like out of control. So there’s your clickbait that you were looking for. I don’t want to talk about anybody’s exes and the crazy sht that they do.”
The fiery response highlighted Boebert’s frustration with being drawn into a controversy originating from comments made by a former romantic partner of another member of Congress. Rather than addressing the allegation itself, the congresswoman focused on criticizing what she viewed as an attempt to generate headlines through personal accusations.
The exchange came after a much calmer discussion about Massie’s political future.
Earlier in the interview, Boebert was asked about reports that Massie had filed paperwork that could indicate interest in seeking another office following the end of his congressional career. She spoke favorably about the Kentucky Republican and suggested she hoped he would find success outside of Congress.
“He filed for something,” Boebert said. “He didn’t specify what and I don’t know if he’s going to move forward with that or not. I don’t know….Hopefully he leaves here and makes some money.”
The conversation appeared routine until the reporter shifted to the allegation involving West.
Boebert again made clear she had no interest in discussing claims made by former partners or associates.
“I don’t want to talk about anybody’s exes and the crazy sh*t that they do,” she told the reporter. “You had great questions on what was actually happening. So…”
The interview ended shortly afterward, with Boebert walking away from the conversation.
The incident serves as another example of how personal allegations and political gossip can quickly overshadow substantive discussions about public policy and elected officials’ future plans. While the controversy generated attention, Boebert made clear she viewed the line of questioning as an unwelcome distraction from issues she believed were more relevant to voters.
