The daughter of House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, was reportedly charged with assault following an encounter with a police officer who was attempting to arrest her for allegedly spray painting anti-cop graffiti on the Boston Common bandstand.

Riley Dowell, 23, was seen writing “NO COP CITY” and “ACAB” โ€” abbreviation for “all police are bastards” โ€” on the bandstand during a demonstration Saturday night.

Dowell is reportedly nonbinary and was recognized by her birth name in a police press statement issued after the incident.

Approximately 20 protestors surrounded policemen while she was being detained, hurling profanities and blocking traffic, according to police.

Jared Dowell, who Clark claims is now her “daughter” Riley Dowell, was detained, according to Clark’s statement.

Dowell is scheduled to appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, destruction or harm to personal property, and property damage by graffiti or tagging.
