Former Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson is reportedly allegedly considering running against President Biden in 2024.
The spiritual self-help author is anticipated to make a political announcement this weekend in New Hampshire, and if she does, she will be the first declared Democratic contender, as President Biden has not yet formally stated his intention to run for re-election.
Williamson campaigned for President in the 2020 Democratic primaries before withdrawing in January before the Iowa Caucuses.
She eventually threw her support behind Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
During her previous campaign, she was accused of being an anti-vaxxer, although she has categorically denied being anti-science. When Politico asked her what the media got wrong about her as a candidate last cycle, she brought up the claims.
The Democratic National Committee has reshuffled its presidential nomination schedule, relegating New Hampshire, which has traditionally held the first primary of the presidential nominating cycle, to third place.
Many people in New Hampshire were outraged by the action
“Apparently Biden’s going to run on a message that the economy is getting stronger. I think that speaks to the disconnect between the analysis of party elites versus the struggle of everyday Americans,” Williamson said in a statement to Politico.
“We’re being asked to limit our political imaginations — to just accept the low unemployment and low inflation rate, that that is sort of the best that we can get. But that is a hollow victory. The majority of Americans are still struggling to survive.” she continued.
