In a stunning Tuesday morning report, PR questioned if doctors had an ethical duty to deliver abortions in jurisdictions that ban the procedure.

“Some doctors are asking themselves tough questions. When they are forced to choose between their ethical obligations to patients and the law, should they defy the law?” the liberal host Rachel Martin asked.

“If the law is wrong, and causing you to be involved in harming patients, you do not have to live to that law,” her guest ‘bioethicist’ Matthew Wynia proclaimed later in the broadcast.

Acts of “civil disobedience” may be required to offer the greatest treatment for patients, according to Wynia, who spoke with NPR reporter Selina Simmons-Duffin.

According to the research, no health care employees have been penalized for violating state laws since Roe v. Wade was overruled by the Supreme Court. However, Wynia assured NPR that it will “definitely” happen, in spite of having no evidence to support his claim.

According to Simmons-Duffin, the American Medical Association is concerned that abortion regulations may somehow hurt women.

Wynia urged doctors to “take a stand against these regulations…”

Wynia described some doctors’ hesitation to provide abortions in order to comply with state restrictions as “extremely troubling.”

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., had previously stated that she will protest the Dobbs ruling and encouraged women to violate the court’s order following the judgment.

Nowhere during the interview did either Martin or her guest express any concern for the life and liberty of the unborn children who would be aborted during the procedures they both had advocated for during the broadcast.

  1. Health care providers should be held to their Hippocratic Oath first, “Do no harm.” Not aborting an unwanted pregnancy is definitely harming the subject woman. The Hippocratic Oath takes precedence over abusive civil law that purports to put the life of a potential baby over the life of a woman who is unhappily pregnant and would abort the pregnancy.
