Two personal automobiles belonging to a former Trump administration official were reportedly taken from the driveway of his house in northern Virginia on December 11, 2022, while he was under the full-time protection of the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service due to threats from Iran.
Former special envoy for Iran for the State Department, Brian Hook, was at home throughout the robberies.
One of those cars was utilized in a shooting on January 3, during rush hour, in the Brightwood neighborhood of northern Washington, D.C., three weeks later.
The incident left two adults and an 8-year-old child injured.
An male adult was killed. There hasn’t been any prior coverage of the connection between the car theft and the shooting.
The Diplomatic Security Service and the Secret Service have supplied and continue to provide protection measures for a number of former Trump administration officials in response to many Iranian murder attempts.
Hook and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are still under the protection of the Diplomatic Security Service.
Federal law enforcement authorities view the car burglaries at Hook’s Fairfax County house as a serious security breach in light of these threats.
Hook’s security detail was apparently unaware of the theft until sometime the next day.
