While speaking to media while on vacation in Lake Tahoe, California, the president made an announcement about his request for increased cash.
While some scientists warn of an increase in COVID cases across the nation, Pfizer and Moderna are now developing new vaccinations to combat the most recent omicron strain.
“I signed off this morning on a proposal we have to present to the Congress a request for additional funding for a new vaccine that is necessary, that works. It will likely be recommended that everybody get it no matter whether they’ve gotten it before or not.” Biden said.
Just over 9,000 COVID hospitalizations were recorded at the end of July, according to the AP, although that number pales in comparison to the admissions that were made at the COVID epidemic’s peak and later surges of the delta and omicron varieties.
Omicron caused an outbreak in January 2022 that left an estimated 150,000 patients hospitalized.
