A Republican ethics watchdog group is now requesting that the IRS investigate a nonprofit entity backed by George Soros for allegedly failing to report its lobbying efforts.

On its 2019 and 2020 990 tax reports, the immigrant advocacy group Alianza Americas said that it did not participate in lobbying, in spite of significant evidence to the contrary.

However, because Alianza acknowledges substantial lobbying operations in these same records, the IRS”must investigate the 501(c)(3) charity to see if it should suffer a variety of different fines or even potentially lose its tax-exempt status, according to a complaint filed with the IRS on Wednesday.

“It seems abundantly clear that Alianza Americas has violated the IRS laws and regulations for failing to report that it engages in lobbying activities as defined by the IRS and failing to file the required Schedule C listing the expenditures for such activities.” The complaint states.

According to public documents, the immigration organization received around $1.4 million from Soros’ Open Society Foundations network between 2016 and 2020.

Alianza is most known for suing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in September for his flight of illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

Alianza acknowledged that it collaborated with organizations to “engage” holders of “temporary protected status,” which allows immigrants to remain in the United States if their home country is experiencing unusual situations such as armed conflict.

According to records, Alianza made almost 200 “visits to Congress” between June 2017 and September 2019.

In spite of this fact the group still checked “no” to the question “Did the organization engage in lobbying activities, or have a section 501(h) election in effect during the tax year?”

The NLPC’s complaint comes after former Health and Human Services chief of staff Brian Harrison, as well as Republican Texas Reps. Chip Roy and Beth Van Duyne, demanded on Saturday that the Department of Health and Human Services “audit” Alianza to determine whether it illegally used federal grant money for lobbying.
